Birmingham based expert machinery dealer Zebra Worldwide recently sourced bespoke machinery for fellow Midlands business Industrial Engineering & Installation Services (IEIS). The SME has been able to start their own fabrication workshop as a result of Zebra’s tailored service and affordable machinery.

Member of Made in the Midlands Zebra Machinery is one of the UK’s leading dealers of a wide range of engineering, metal work and fabrication machinery. Offering a range of new and used machinery in stock to suit a range of businesses, Zebra’s unique service means both SMEs and larger businesses can purchase high-quality products. In addition to that the company's engineers have decades of experience in installing and servicing all kinds of manufacturing machinery from CNC bending to ‘plug and play’ machines.

In a recent partnership Zebra helped leading turnkey solutions provider IEIS set up a fabrication workshop, a capability that was previously subcontracted outside of the business.  IEIS is an independent privately owned company with over 30 years of experience servicing Quarry and Allied Industries in particular the waste to energy sector both at home and abroad.

To kick start their fabrication workshop journey, Andy Hulland, Fabrications Manager at IEIS, was brought on to build the much needed department. This saw Andy reach out to Zebra to purchase a laser and press brake, due to their unrivalled reputation and location in the local area. The company seemed impressed with their purchases and have since bought bending rolls and a chiller unit to complete the new workshop. Andy said:

“We initially chose to go with Zebra as they were local, and therefore we could view their machinery easily. Once we had seen the machines we could see that they were a reasonable price and were in the right condition. Zebra’s affordable offering means that smaller companies can take the opportunity to transition like we have.”

The new workshop means IEIS can be more versatile with the work they produce, as well as react to customer needs more quickly and efficiently. Andy continued:

“We carry out a lot of work for energy power stations here at IEIS, which means outages and shutdowns can be expensive and detrimental. The new fabrication workshop means we can do more in house and reduce our lead times.”

Andy also mentioned that Zebra’s pre purchase and aftercare is unrivalled, he concluded:

“We received a fantastic service from Zebra, right from the point of purchase. They stood by the dates that were accommodated, the install was smooth and they ensured we were happy with the final product before they left.

In addition to that, their after sales service was genuinely helpful. There have been times when the engineers would help over the phone rather than charging us for a call out. In future, Zebra will be our go to machine provider.”
